whenever anyone asked james âare you serious?â he would say âno, thatâs Sirius, im james.â and he repeatedly said it, it became habit. one time lily missed Jamesâs quidditch game and they were arguing. at one point james said âare you serious right now?â and lily replied with âno thatâs Sirius, im lily.â and at that moment he didnât know if he wanted to yell at her or laugh with her but he knew he wanted to marry her.

i could just imagine remus and lily trying to get the others to actually do their homework, and them all working silently for short periods of time before sirius spontaneously decides to yell lyrics of the songs out of boredom. james joining him immediately and the two eventually beckoning everyone to join in until they are silenced yet again.

Just imagine that if pettigrew never told voldemort then everything would've turned out different, Lily and James would've been alive, Sirius probably didn't go to azkaban, Peter would've still been their friend and Remus didn't have to hide for a long time, Harry wouldn't be known as the boy who lived and most likely just went to Hogwarts like any other boy from Gryffindor and wouldn't had that same relationship with hagrid, hermoine and ron.

They had such a fun and careless childhood and such an inseparable bond between them and it makes me so sad to see how all their lives turned out. Peter became an ally to voldermort and ended up being killed by the hand he gave him, james was killed by voldermort and tried to protect lily and harry, sirius was killed by bellatrix with harry there- his best friends son, and remus was killed by a death eater in the battle of hogwarts. if the dark side and voldermort in particular never existed, imagine how much happier and longer their lives would be.

Like many nights before they were sitting in the common room by the fireplace. Lilys hand was caressing Remus hair who was sat on the carpet before the couch. Marlene was snuggled into her side, Lilys arm lazily slumped around her shoulder. James was sat on one of the big armchairs, his legs were pulled up to his chest, chin resting on his knees. Sirius sat on the armchair opposite of james, long lanky legs dangling over the side of the chair. He was playing with the lighter he got from Aubrey after a bet about quidditch. Peter was sprawled on the carpet next to Remus, staring into the fire. Dorcas wasnt with them, because she decided to go ask Proffesor Flitwick a quick question about the last lesson.
They were the last ones in the common room, the cracking of the fire and the music from the record Player being the only sounds apart from their comfortable silence.

Swing Lynn slowed has always been the Marauder's anthem, in my opinion. It just radiates the melancholic vibe of days long past. Sirius, Remus, Peter, and James. The original troublemakers. The loss that came later. The betrayal. But they didn't know it then.
It makes me sad that Peter is often cut out of fanfictions and stories about the Marauders. He was one of them. Lily and James died still thinking he was their friend. He was still one of them at Hogwarts.
And I respect that.

POV:
I was sitting next to my brother, James Potter, on the common room couch. Sirius sits in between my legs on the floor, letting me play with his hair. Peter sits in the armchair to the right and Remus in the armchair to my left.
âshouldnât we be studying?â Peter said it but made no effort to get out of his chair to pick up a textbook.
âYes.â Remus flipped a page of the book on his lap, although it wasnât a book from any of our classes.
I smirked, an idea forming in my head. âI have something we could do besides studying-â
Sirius cut in with a sarcastic remark âBecome jobless?â James and Peter laughed, Remus tried to suppress his smile. I just rolled my eyes and pulled his hair a little tighter then I needed too.
He winced and touched the back of his head âAy!â
âNo, thatâs not it.â I looked into the fire, Peter was almost burning his socks he was so close. âWe should play a little game.â
âWhat like shoots and ladders?â James sat up, a smirk stretching across his face. âOr something with higher stakes?â
I nudged him âWhoever can balance a book on their head the longest gets...â I hesitated, not sure what I should put up for these needy boys to grab.
âSome of my chocolate stash.â Remus butted in, he seemed just as interested.
The room fell silent, probably waiting for him to say âjust kidding mate, sod offâ but that phrase never came from the boy in the corner.
There wasnât any studying that night, only the sound of laughter, books falling to the ground and music from the radio.
In the end I won, Remus and I nibbled at the chocolate while the others begged us to share. I would consider it a victory well deserved.

I love this playlist, it really does remind me of the Marauders, I feel like James, Sirius and Peter would just be dancing around and screaming the lyrics for fun while Lily and Remus try and study, but get caught up in laughing at their three friends.
