After seeing the Taylor Hawkins tribute concert broadcasts, I figured Josh Freese was gonna be the most likely candidate to take over Taylorâs spot. Not only is he regarded as one of the best drummers in the world, but his stints as drummer for the Vandals and the Dwarves gives him the legitimate punk rock credentials to fit in with Dave and Pat Smear from a life experience standpoint. And his mammoth resume as a respected session musician means that heâs unlikely to suddenly become a raging party person.

His work in The Vandals, Guns N Roses, I bought his solo album that came out in 2001. I thought they might have offered it to Rory Koff, but Josh is certainly a better drummer than Rory.

Josh Freese is a phenomenal drummer, However he is a session drummer. (no fault in that, as he can and has played in every style with many artists) He is probably going to finish this tour with the Foos while they find a permanent replacement for Taylor for their future. He likes to spend time with his family....

please don't compare Josh to Taylor, Josh is a different person. since Josh seems to be accepted by the band thats good enough for me. i wish Josh and the Foo Fighters the best future possible.

I don't believe he is going to surpass Taylor, he wouldn't even attempt that because he and Taylor are both incredibly accomplished drummers so there's no need to surpass, he'll just honor and add his take to the style. Trying to surpass would be rude.

Meh, Josh is technically a better drummer than Dave or Taylor but really, that aint what this gig needs - this gig needs a guy with power and can let a song breathe. Miss Taylor, he was a gem a total FEEL player who played from the heart.
