Filipinos are just happy to look silly with simple things like these. Nothing wrong with that. It's one way of taking a respite from formality, kaplastikan, etc. It's also actually the Filipino way of telling another Filipino, "I'm one with you , I'm FILIPINO, too, I'm just like you, I'm silly, I'm funny, I'm one with you, we're all Filipinos, we're all happy, silly, united as a people , united as a nation , etc." Other nationalities may find us odd, but it just shows that when the best things come, and when the worst comes to worst , we are a united nation, easy to mobilize, easy to unite, just like our patriotism at EDSA.
