How can you tell if a news article or scientific study is high quality or not? In today's video, I am going to break down an article that a member sent to me entitled "Keto Diet Doubles the Risk of Heart Attack, Stroke: Study found on WebMD's website. I have linked the full article below.

My member was concerned because he’s seen a ton of articles like this, demonizing the ketogenic diet and was really curious to know if he should be concerned about them.

And while I’m not a doctor or a researcher, I have learned over the years how to interpret whether a study is high-quality or low quality. And I think this is a skill that everybody needs to know, especially because there are a lot of sensational headlines out there that are pushing very low quality studies as being gold standard, when they are 100% not.

I hope you enjoy this video and if you come across any articles or studies that you would like me to break down, send them my way eighter on Instagram at MamaMitich or email at mamamitich@gmail.com

So I looked at the linked study...and it had an almost 12 year study length. Unfortunately I'm reading that the confirmation that someone was on a Keto diet was taken at the begining of the study. Did the participants then go off Keto? Is anyone else seeing that?

It’s more important to see who funded the study. Big pharmaceutical company? General Mills? Keto done right won’t do any harm to your body.

Just from reading the part of the article that popped up on the screen, the metric that they used was high LDL, and repeated the same old argument that this indicates an increased risk. But unless they actually reported that the subjects of the study DID have heart attacks or strokes, it means nothing.
