Enes Freedom’s story offers a unique perspective this #PresidentsDay.

He grew up in the Middle East, came to America to play in the NBA, and then was horrified to learn there were limits on what he was allowed to say.

Our full interview is now available on “The John Stossel Interviews," anywhere you get podcasts.

Enes' attitude and take on this country is something I've found with many of the naturalized U.S. citizens I've met over the years. They have a much better grasp of what makes this country great and how precious our freedoms are than people who are born here. Those folks much prefer to shit on the U.S. and take for granted what they've always had, all while benefitting daily from those very freedoms. That's a sad state of affairs.

So proud and grateful to be born in America. Anyone that hates America needs to leave the country and check out what hardship really is ❤

The people saying it's so horrible are the ones making it horrible. We didn't used to be nearly as bad as we are.

I was stationed in Turkey with the USAF in the early 90s. We have EVERYTHING so much better than 90% of the world. Their is a reason that millions of people want to come to the US. We as a whole need to appreciate what we have in the U.S.

Lived in India for two and a half years. The term 'first world problem' is 100% accurate. The only thing I liked about it was that it gave me an appreciation for living in the U.S. Yeah, there are problems, but in America, we actually have the means of fixing them. Not every country has that.

"They're not educated enough." Exactly. Since 1973, American schools have been greatly dumbed down. Read "The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America," by Charlotte Iserbyt Thompson
