it's quite impressive how you explain the difference between ESL and EFL teaching approach, thats why most Japanese students in eikawa usually cant even speak English a lot coz most of them dont know much about the context of a certain word when you use it in speaking or even in writing. Thanks ,this helps a lot.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:33 🗣️ Effective communication in English involves mastering vocabulary rather than accumulating knowledge. 03:30 🧒🏽 EFL approach suggests deep understanding of a smaller set of vocabulary, challenging the traditional ESL emphasis on quick word learning. 16:39 📚 To speak fluently, focus on deep understanding of specific vocabulary rather than trying to know every word. 23:57 🌐 "Make sense" means to be understood; check if the listener comprehends your message. 27:39 🌲 Metaphorically, "to go out on a limb" means taking a risk or doing something dangerous. 35:28 🤔 "Go out on a limb" used ironically involves guessing without real risk. 42:22 🏰 "Come out of the woodwork" refers to unexpected appearances, similar to hidden details in woodwork. 46:23 🗣️ To improve speaking, focus on understanding vocabulary better; EFL approach allows learning without speaking. 50:21 🚀 Becoming fluent is about knowing vocabulary extremely well; learn a few words deeply for effective communication. 52:59 📺 Avoid watching American dramas for ESL students; kids' shows ensure understanding of 80-90% of vocabulary. 56:15 📚 Reviewing vocabulary in context is crucial for retention; daily, become fluent in one new word or phrase. 01:04:37 🔄 EFL approach involves slow, steady progress in understanding vocabulary deeply, leading to accelerated fluency. 01:09:22 📚 Focus on deep understanding rather than trying to learn a lot without comprehension. 01:10:48 🗣️ Speaking doesn't make you fluent; understanding does. Mastery comes from deep comprehension. 01:13:25 🌐 ESL learners struggle because taught as a second language; it should be learned as a first language. 01:14:25 🔄 Traditional ESL approach hinders true fluency by focusing on speaking too early. 01:20:39 🔄 In EFL learning, understanding is the foundation; fluent speech naturally follows.

When i saw you for the first time, I thought actor Tom Hanks had switched his carrer and started teaching English on Youtube. I like your teaching esp when you burst out a laughter heartily while teaching.

Best teacher ever, I've been learning Eng since, Eng has always been mysterious to me, I have been using expressions, vocabs, idioms, but I can't understand what they truly mean, I just mimic and use grammar structures correcly, yet the meaning is always eccentric, honestly your way is the best to understand, God bless u <3
