This does actually give him a unique niche now, which is exciting.
He can now play the first contact role, which was already his job, a lot better than before.
First contact is a different job than entry.
Imagine you are on Ascent and you want to rush B. Iso's role is now to go first around the first corner as the first contact and Jett's role would be to entry out of the choke point afterwards.
Jett shouldn't be the first contact, because you need her to get out of the choke point, and before, there were only ways to disrupt the player holding the angle, but no actual protection for the first contact player, before they took the engagement.

Wait so if I lose my shield and then get a kill and shoot the orb do I get the shield back? Or does the timer of the ability reset and shield is only restored if I activate the ability again after 2 kills?

For those who didn’t wait till the end or missed it, the orbs are still there after each kill. You now just start with a shield. Hope this helps.
