There have been lots of miniature schnauzers in my extended family over the years. They were all great little dogs. As those folks progressed in age, they switched over to Cavalier, King Charles spaniels. I preferred the schnauzers. In my immediate family, we always had larger breed dogs.

Will, I’d love to know what’s your opinion of (standard) Schnauzers! I grew up with English setters, lovely dogs with thousand flies in their head all flying in different direction for 51 weeks a year, and so focused on the hunt. 25 years back we fell in love when seeing a Schnauzer waiting for it’s owner outside a bakery in Germany. Had to wait to hear what this dog was. Now on our second. Farm dogs, so they love jobs! Super sensible and knows right from wrong. So need to shake them out of habits…no, we can walk another way today, I will show you. 😊

HELP ! Living on a narrowboat and our dog barks and is so reactive all day long to any one (even if met them a hundred times).
People cant walk past, we cant have conversations with anyone, and we cant take him anywhere. Dogs near or far he loses it. We are prisioners on our own boat practically. The reactivity is too much, considering giving him up. We take control but he just starts again as soon as someone comes near again We do calm, and assertive. But once he sees something he just goes crazy. We tried many things. They arent calming him. 18 months old.

They can be ridiculously stubborn, extremely protective (of their people and home), and very vocal. I wouldn’t trade my little man for the world though. 😂
