Poor boy! I'm so glad he has a home now! He absolutely looks like a pure bred Vizsla to me, though I notice that he doesn't have a docked tail, which would normally been done by a Vizsla breeder.
I've owned one pure bred and currently 2 rescue Vizsla Lab mixes. Vizslas are wonderful loyal companions and incredibly smart. They are pointers and retrievers as hunting dogs, and often called velcro dogs because they will be their owner's shadow 24/7. They have an incredibly sensitive temperament and badly want to please their owner and have their approval. So very harsh words or harsh training methods can damage them permanently. This sweet boy is amazing. He's so nervous and full of anxiety, as would be expected from a Vizsla in his shape, but he was so ready to be loved and treated with respect and kindness. I just cried happy tears to know he has a good life ahead of him full of love.

UPDATE! New dad here! Thank you so much for all the love and positive messages! It's absolutely amazing how many people are asking and caring about how "Bear" is doing. His new name is Shadow (Shadow Moon), and he is like a different dog already! He is healthy, happy and loved, and I will do my best to keep you all updated! He is definitely a Hungarian Vizsla, and now have an older Husky sister. She had a Vizsla brother for about 4 years, so we are well aware of the needs and quirks of the breed, and they absolutely love each other! Vizslas are the ultimate Velcro dogs, and I expect him to keep sticking to me like a Shadow, which is part of why he got his name!

I can tell he’s a sweetheart, he’ll come out of his shell soon 🥰 My parents dog is a rescue from Korea and he was super shy avoiding all eye contact first week. Now now all he wants is eye contact that’s how he expresses his love ❤

He looks and behaves a lot like my fawn Dobie did when I first met him in a shelter. Mine was almost entirely bald, and combined with the emaciation, button ears, and color, I thought he was a sighthound or weimaraner mix. Two years later, he's a happy, confident, fully trained service dog.
