Next time you do a VHS spoof, the camcorders of the day worked with motors. There would be audible noise. That's missing. Next, there's less contrast, color bleeding and a number of other artifacts that would remain in the video. Only the very top of the line recorders would be in stereo, and have less dynamic range than the audio here.
Think... Mono audio with motor noise and more hiss, slightly less simulated tracking artifacts, less contrast... You're getting it.
