I am a licensed Customs Broker. I have been retired for a while now. I did 30 years and that was enough. I went on to become a boarding agent for mostly cargo ships at the ports of Jacksonville, Fernandina Beach and Brunswick. Customs had a big conference with the District of Tampa back in the late 80's. I went with my Dad and we got a hotel room. I didn't sleep well, and when we got to the conference they were out of coffee. I remember sitting at a desk with a young lady and I started nodding off. I tried my best to keep awake, but I failed. When I awoke the Assistant to the Comissioner apologized for being so boring. Not trying to took our horn, but if it were not for Brokers and Freight Forwarders there would not be International Trade as we know it. After we sold our business I became a boarding agent for mostly cargo ships from all over the world at the Ports of entry of Jacksonville, Fernandina Beach and Brunswick. Many long hours and tons and tons of paperwork.
