💡 Hip Flexor Stretching Tip 💡

Tip #1: Tucking your hips underneath you allows you to create more space on the front of the hip. This starts the process of creating hip extension.

Hip extension is the opposite of hip flexion. By creating the opposite motion, you are now gaining better access to the hip flexor.

Often I see others start arching your back, which in theory will create a stretch on the front side of your hip, however now at the cost of jamming your low back.

If we tuck the hips first, you will learn to have better control over the stretch. Visually it may not be as impressive. Let go of what it looks like and prioritize how the stretch feels.

Tip #2: Shoot your hips forward. By pushing your hip forward while tucking, you create more space and length in the front of your hip. This not only enhances the stretch but protects the low back. If you feel a pinching or jamming feeling in the low back, I would recommend for you to readjust your positioning.

Combining these two tips will help you find the best stretch for your hip flexor. Depending on where you're naturally tight, you might feel more of a quad stretch, or you may feel more of a stretch around the hip bone, or the ASIS.
