Daily Exercise for Disc Bulges and Sciatica

Have disc herniations or sciatica? Here’s a daily exercise you can do to combat your overly flexed alignment.

1. Stand a couple of feet away from a wall and place your hands above shoulder level.
2. Slowly press your hips back while maintaining your hand position.
3. Keep your core braced and your pelvis and spine in a neutral range.
4. Hold for 5 seconds while breathing deeply.
5. Press into your feet and return to standing.

Do this for several minutes per day and note the changes you feel. This is essentially a hip hinge with added resistance due to the hand placement. It will fire up your erector spinae muscles. People who experience disc issues tend to go through life in a rounded position and/or spend a lot of time sitting. 🫠 This exercise will help you find better alignment and you will strengthen your body in that aligned position for long term relief.
