This is your sign to get out there and connect with the wildlife of your local area! Wherever you are in the world, take a moment to appreciate the nature in the places you'd least expect it.

In addition, throughout the whole month of May, the BackyardBio project is hoping people will take the chance to document what they find through photographs, sketches and stories and will share it with the world to help foster a global appreciation for biodiversity everywhere. The project was created by my friend Jesse Hildebrand. That said, this is not an ad - all you need is yourself and some means of recording any observations. I think it's a wonderful way to get involved in a month of wildlife appreciation! You can find more information about it here - www.backyardbio.net/

There are three ways to get involved:

1. On social media using the #backyardbio - share images of wild creatures or of yourself out enjoying nature!

2. Via the iNaturalist app. By joining the BackyardBio-2022 iNaturalist project all your observations will be collated together to provide a snapshot of all the living things around the globe. For younger kids, the Seek app is recommended as it makes nature learning an engaging game and prevents location data for little ones being collected.

3. For teachers, register your classroom with the BackyardBio.net website where your class will be partnered with others of the same age around the world to join in a shared BackyardBio experience.

But most importantly, just be sure to spend some time outdoors and interact with the local wildlife that’s all-too-often overlooked! 🍃

Honestly, at my 20 years of age, lifting rocks and logs is one of my favorite things, I just can't understand how some people don't like animals or nature

BBC really needs to take notice of you. You are such an exceptional young man, and you've taught me so much! You are a fantastic narrator, and I love David Attenborough, but I think I might like you even more! Please keep doing what you're doing!!! I am so excited every time I see that you've posted a new video! ❤️

I love that you are encouraging people to do this. I have lost count of the number of times I have stopped to admire something like frogs spawning, a spider spinning a web, or a mole throwing soil in the air that other people have just walked by without even noticing. Thank you Leo, you really are quite wonderful.

I keep my backyard mostly uncared for and see so many birds, lizards, hares and beetles. Pretty nice. Just leave it to grow.

A few years ago I rescued a baby rabbit and released it into my backyard because I knew we had a couple living under our deck. Now we get to watch them everyday. It's a joy.

Hello, Leo and everyone! What an amazing idea! It's true how much can be missed by not going outside at least for a little bit. There are a lot of interesting little critters hiding in between some tree roots or fallen leaves :) Also, lovely face reveal! You're a pretty young lad. The hair is on point :D For concluding, I'd like to proudly announce that my ecology paper I submitted a few weeks ago for my uni course was a success! My teachers really liked it! 🤗

Great video, dude. Thank you for it. I have an organic banana farm in the rainforest on the side of the highest mountain on the island upon which I live in the Caribbean. The more my farm grows, the more incredibly wonderful wildlife I attract.

I would love to go out and explore or connect with nature, the wildlife, and all that. Would definitely be a nice break from the monotony of everyday life lol. Unfortunately where I live, all you’ll find is sadness and disappointment so that’s a bit of a shame. But anyways, I absolutely love your videos man! Definitely one of my favorite YouTube channels of all time. I could go on and on gushing about how great it is, with the sheer quality of everything. Plus the background music you use have been one of my favorite more underrated aspects (Art of Silence by Uniq and Snowfall by Scott Buckley have been my favorites). It’s super nice to listen to while drawing or writing lol Also you look absolutely fabulous lmao

Much agreed, was doing yard work here in my town in Colorado and noticed a strange cocoon I dug up as well as dozens of caterpillars that have been flocking around this time of year and the birds that eat the worms when I water my patchy grass and the quail that roam in bushes nearby as well as many other animals. Truly a remarkable world just right outside the door. Also saw my first scorpion in years flipping a rock in the desert a few weeks ago! Was pretty happy about that. Thanks Leo for making the video and as strange as it might sound it's pretty awesome to see the face behind the mesmerizing voice I hear in your videos. I often fall asleep to the whimsical, soothing sound and have actually tried looking you up just to see who makes that voice LOL
