My tonsils were always infected when I was a kid..I was told I caught strep from the dog...never took them out...i love my tonsils, they kept me from getting really sick as an adult..

Daughter’s Pediatrician refused to take out her tonsils in spite of annual illnesses that caused her to suffer and miss school. The criteria 40 years ago was the patient had to have had three separate bouts of strep throat before they could be removed. She never had strep. Has that changed?

I just had mine out two weeks ago and because of the procedure used, I barely had any recovery pain. It was “intracapsular tonsillectomy with coblation”.

I just got out of a tonsillectomy like just a few hours, the hospital did a really good job.

At 29 years old I just got my tonsils and adenoids out, I’m on day 6 and it’s been so extremely painful for the recovery. I want to be put in a coma.

- My car check engine light is on.
- Just remove the light out. That usually solves the problem.

100% of YouTube videos i have seen so far recommend surgery as an alternative treatment. They don't bother fixing the underlying problem. 🤦‍♂

my mom, born 1926, had hers out when she was 25. they waited until i was 40 to remove mine. as part of the immune system is there something in families that would cause this?

What are the roles in the immune system? And will removing them affect immunity?

I used to get strep every year. Then the pandemic happened and I started working from home and haven’t had strep for 3 years now 🙌

You DON'T take them out!
Find the cause of information and eliminate that !!!!!

I had mine out when I was 9. They were enlarged and I would stop breathing at night. Just got diagnosed with sleep apnea many years later. My recovery was not great, and I spent a week throwing up

I had a near constant state of infection in my tonsils and ears.
They finally decided to remove my tonsils when I was 19, almost 20, after 4 bouts of strep in a little under 6 months. I stayed overnight in the hospital because I had a bad reaction to the anesthesia. I really, really didn't want to wake up. I can vaguely remember the recovery nurse shaking my leg so hard that I almost fell out of the bed. I could hear the nurse talking to me, and I could hear my mom shouting in the hallway, I just couldn't force myself to do more than roll my head. It took almost 4 hours to get me fully aware.
A little scary, but not nightmarish.

So i get frequent sore throats would that be a sign that i might need mine removed 🤔

For two years I had chronic ear infections, with sore throat and often fevers. I would have to see my family doctor every 3-4 months for that, but all he ever did was prescribe the same antibiotic for me, which never cleared the problem up. Plus, he always teased me in a nasty way because the pain I was in when I went to my appointments showed in my pain filled face.

I finally begged my mom to make an appointment for me to see an ENT. On my first appointment with him, I told him my story. He looked at my throat and told me my tonsils needed to come out.

Once my tonsils were gone, the ENT doctor said that there were so many pockets of chronic infection at the back of them, they were never going to heal.
I felt so much better once they were gone, too!
My parents found us all a different family doctor, and eventually the doctor who kept pumping me up with antibiotics ended up losing his medical license. Turns out he was also a coke addict!
I felt so much better once the tonsils were gone, and never had any major problems with my ears or throat after that.

I was always sick as a child, had a barking cough and swollen tonsils and adenoids. I was 1 1/2 years old when they came out. I still recall it quite distinctly and had to describe it all to prove to my dad that it was the real memory. I still get sick but not like back then.

Done removed my tonsil on 09/09/24 & cant lie it is painful especially when you woke up in the middle of the night & morning (bec ur throat is dry).. What i did is do not skip ur meds & drink a lot of water .. i felt less pain on day 9 & able to survive without pain killer (even though felt like dying) .. The reason i removed my tonsil is i snoring at night, my right tonsil bigger than other side & always have infection fever almost every month & even with antibiotics it wont go away
