They are called different specific names because of how they are kept and ease of finding information.
Female intact ferrets die if they go into heat and dont mate, but all ferrets get increased risk of adrenal if they are fixed. So vasectomized males are used to take intact females out of heat so they dont have to be spayed and dont need implanted but also so they dont die. Thats the primarily reason for different terms for wether a ferret is fixed, and how. As a fully neutered male ferret cannot/wont breed a female to take her out of heat, but a vasectomized one will, without any risk of pregnancy resulting.
