Which is more effective for gaining mass / building muscle, maingaining or bulking?
Some people think that to bulk means you are going to gain a lot of excess body fat and lose muscle definition and while some fat gain can be expected, when done properly and at a pace that is right for you it is possible to still maintain muscle definition throughout the bulk process and minimize overall fat gain. Different individuals add mass differently, so starting off in a small surplus and evaluating how your body responds can help you determine how aggressive or how slow you should be with your approach to bulking, depending on what you are comfortable with.
While personally I think bulking is the more effective option, what works for one individual may not be right for another so part of the process is actually trying different things out to see what works best for you.
