This is soooo lovely to see. I'm Irish but I grew up in Catalunya, so I became fluent (very slowly over time 😅) in Catalan and Spanish, went to a regular public school there so that helped. I can tell how shocked everyone in earshot of this conversation is that an American tourist is speaking Català, good for you

the lady was very encouraging like she asked if he spoke english at the start and clearly was happy to hear he wanted to practise speaking catalan. always nice to know when people are understanding and helpful when you're learning their language rather than put you down for trying
