What I think is actually really genius about this game is that sure, you could do this and skip levels and such, but with the whole wonder flower gimmick, as a player you feel this sense of mystery and curiosity that makes you want to play the game normally, find the flower and see its effect. In other 2D Marios since the only goal was to get to the goal, cheesing levels or just breezing through them didnât feel wrong, even though it kinda sucks the fun out of the game. But here youâre encouraged positively to play the game normally

The cape required some skill to use. That made it interesting. You could dive and sling shot back up. It wasn't an auto level pass by any means.
