Absolutely! This is a good starter for any brand new person to trails. NISA has the best bang for your buck collector's editions as well! All that for a hundred bucks. Take notes Square Enix

I have never played a trails game before but I decided to pick this one up just to see what the series is all about and 65 hours in I can positively say it has been a very good starting point despite me knowing almost nothing about the trails series.

I’m at the intermission point in Daybreak. Definitely do not start your trail’s journey here. Way to many references to Crossbell & Sky characters/events.

Why the Nintendo Switch version? Out of curiosity since the PS5 is the best version of the bunch.
Also, If you start In Daybreak you won't understand almost nothing. This is like the MCU of JRPGs and it follows a continuity. Best JRPG at the moment for a classic turn base and Ys is the best action JRPG at the moment. Falcom is the GOAT!

Alright, here's a detailed explanation of how to start the series:
STARTING POINTS:
Definitely start with Trails in the Sky FC if you can. It can run on a potato PC, so it's easy to access. There is Sky FC, Sky SC, then Sky 3rd. Sky FC is getting remade soon.
If you can't get Sky FC, or don't like the graphics, then start with Trails of Cold Steel 1. It has much better graphics and gameplay, albeit a worse story. There's Cold Steel 1-4.
If you can't even handle Cold Steel 1's graphics or gameplay, then play Trails Through Daybreak. It is the best looking game, has the best gameplay, and one of the best stories. It's sequel, Daybreak 2, was announced to release in English early next year, and then Kai no Kiseki (3rd game) is still in development.
I don't recommend starting at Trails From Zero at all unless absolutely necessary. It is one of my favourite Trails games, but is a terrible place to start. It has Trails From Zero and Trails to Azure.
Trails Into Reverie is by far the worst place to start the series. It continues the story of Cold Steel 4 while resolving Zero/Azure as well.
The recommended order to play in however is:
Trails in the Sky FC
Trails in the Sky SC
Trails in the Sky 3rd
Trails From Zero
Trails to Azure
Trails of Cold Steel 1
Trails of Cold Steel 2
Trails of Cold Steel 3
Trails of Cold Steel 4
Trails into Reverie
Trails Through Daybreak
Trails Through Daybreak 2 (WIP translation)
Kai no Kiseki (untranslated)
Really, you can start anywhere, but you'll definitely miss references to previous games via characters or events. The series is pure bliss when you play it in release order, seeing the characters you know and love grow up in the interconntected world.
