In today's post, we are going to learn about the temple of Mother Kanyakumari who is doing penance at Kumari Node.

Kanyakumari on the southern coast of Bharatakanda is famous for being the confluence of three oceans and the great place where Goddess Kanyakumari, the Eternal Maiden, does penance.

Our nation of Bharat is full of powerful Shakti Peedhams. Among them, Kanniyakumari is the most famous Divya Setram where Mother Adiparashakti is always seen as a net. It is also the best tourist destination located at the southern tip of Tamil Nadu where three seas meet. It is revered as the Kumari Shakti Peedham among the 51 Shakti Peedhams of Ambigai. Legend has it that part of Sati Devi's spine fell here, thereby creating Kundalini Shakti in this region. The Bay of Bengal to the east of the temple, the Indian Ocean to the south and the Arabian Sea to the west come together to create a beautiful view.

Goddess Kumari appears in the Thirukolam standing towards the east as if blessing the young sun. She has a crescent moon on her crown. She wears Pavadai Dhavani, a traditional dress of Tamil Nadu. Goddess Kanyakumari performs penance with a rosary in her hand. The mookuthi of the radiant goddess Bhagwati is worshiped by devotees as it is an expression of yogic power.

The demon Panasura was blessed with the boon that he could only be killed by a virgin. To remove the threat of Panasura, Parashakti took the form of a maiden. Devi eventually defeated Panasura. Puranic history says that a temple was built here for the Goddess in the name of Kanyakumari as Narada and Parasurama wanted the Goddess to remain on earth till the end of the Kali Yuga. This Goddess Kumari, She is known by many names like Kanya Kumari, Bhagavatiyamman. As Ambika lived here as an unmarried Kumari, she got the name 'Kanyakumari'. This place where she lived is also known as Kanyakumari because of her name is being provided.

There are two beautiful rocks in the sea to the east of Kumari Point. The big rock is about 3 acres and 55 feet above sea level. In one place there is a sign like a foot. It is called Devi (sripadam) Tirupadam. During his pilgrimage in 1892, Swami Vivekananda came to Kumarimuna and after worshiping the goddess sat on this rock and meditated. This hall is built in his memory.

In 1948, the ashes of the Father of the Nation Gandhiji were dissolved in the sea here. Before the cremation, the cremated urn was placed on a plinth. The foundation stone was laid in 1954 and completed as a beautiful hall in 1956 due to the efforts made by Gandhi's disciple Kripalani to build a memorial at the place. On another rock found in the sea, there is a magnificent and huge statue of Thiruvalluvar.

இன்றைய பதிவில் குமரி முனையில் தவமிருக்கும் அன்னை கன்னியாகுமரியின் ஆலயம் குறித்து நாம் அறிந்துகொள்ளவிருக்கிறோம்.

பரதகண்டத்தின் தென் கோடியில் உள்ள கன்னியாகுமரி முக்கடல் சங்கமிக்கும் இடம் என்ற வகையிலும், தேவி கன்னியாகுமரி, நித்ய கண்ணியாக நித்தம் தவம் செய்யும் மகத்துவம் மிகுந்த இடம் என்ற வகையிலும் பெரும் புகழ்கொண்டு விளங்குகிறது. இது முக்கடல் சங்கமிக்கும் தமிழகத்தின் தென்கோடியான குமரி முனையில் அமைந்த மிக சிறந்த சுற்றுலா தலமாகவும் திகழ்கிறது. அம்பிகையின் 51 சக்தி பீடங்களில் இது குமரி சக்தி பீடமாக போற்றப்படுகிறது. ஆலயத்தின் கிழக்கே வங்கக்கடலும் தெற்கே இந்தியப் பெருங்கடலும் மேற்கே அரபிக்கடலும் ஒன்று கூடி அழகிய காட்சியளிக்கிறது.

இளங்காலைக் கதிரவனுக்கு ஆசி கூறி அருள்வது போன்று குமரித் தெய்வம் கிழக்கு திசை நோக்கிய வண்ணம் நின்ற திருக்கோலத்தில் காட்சி தருகின்றாள். அவளது மணிமுடியில் பிறைமதி கானப்படுகின்றது. தமிழகத்தின் பாரம்பரிய உடையான பாவாடை, 
தாவணியுடன் செபமாலையை கையில் ஏந்தி தவம் செய்யும் கோலத்தில் காட்சி தருகிறாள் தேவி கன்னியாகுமரி. ஒளிமிகுந்த பகவதி அம்மனின் மூக்குத்தி யோகசக்தியின் வெளிப்பாடு என்பதால் பக்தர்களின் வழிபாட்டுக்கு உரியதாக உள்ளது.

பாணாசுரன் என்ற அரக்கன் ஒரு கன்னிப் பெண்ணால் மட்டுமே கொல்லப்பட முடியும் என்ற வரம் பெற்றான். பானாசுராவின் அச்சுறுத்தலை அகற்ற, பராசக்தி கன்னிப் பெண்ணாக உருவெடுத்தாள். தேவி இறுதியில் பாணாசுரனை வென்றாள். நாரதரும் பரசுராமரும் தேவியை கலியுகத்தின் இறுதி வரை பூமியில் இருக்குமாறு வேண்டியதாகவும் அதை ஏற்ற தேவி இங்கே கன்னியாகுமரி என்ற பெயரில் கோவில் கொண்டதாகவும் புராண வரலாறு கூறுகிறது.

இந்த தேவி குமரி,
கன்னியா குமரி, பகவதியம்மன் போன்ற பல திருநாமங்களில் அழைக்கப்படுகிறாள்.

திருமணமாகாத குமரியாக அம்பிகை இங்கே வீற்றிருப்பதால் ‘கன்னியாகுமரி’ என்ற காரண பெயர் பெற்றாள்.

குமரி முனையின் கிழக்கே கடலில் இரண்டு அழகிய பாறைகள் உள்ளன. அதில் பெரிய பாறை சுமார் 3 ஏக்கர் பரப்பும் கடல் மட்டத்திலிருந்து 55 அடி உயரமும் உடையது. அதில் ஓரிடத்தில் பாதம் போன்ற அடையாளம் காணப்படுகிறது. அதை தேவியின் திருப்பாதம் என்று அழைக்கிறார்கள்.

1892ல் சுவாமி விவேகானந்தர் தனது யாத்திரையின் போது குமரிமுனை வந்து தேவியை வழிபட்டுவிட்டு இப்பாறையில் உட்கார்ந்து தியானம் செய்தார்.
