Flying VOR DME-A Approach to Minimums and Missed Approach: What is a "normal" descent to land from a circle to land approach? Check out this example recorded at 3F4 on the VOR DME-A approach at Vivian, LA with low ceilings preventing a landing. We saw the airport too late to maneuver safely to land, so we executed a missed approach.
This was recorded in a Cessna 172S Skyhawk while on the VOR DME-A approach at 3F4 Vivian, LA. Notice the low ceilings that were preventing us from seeing the airport in time to descend to the runway using normal maneuvering and a stabilized approach. Had the clouds been just a bit higher, we might have been able to finish the approach to land on the runway. However this gives you a great idea of what it looks like to fly an approach only to see the airport yet still have to execute the missed approach!

Always remember that Laura, when you get right down to it, is just a pilot and a dispatcher. She is explaining facts from the source materials but may be incorrect or out of date. You should always follow your primary guidance (aircraft manuals, government regulations, etc.) before listening to anything from this YouTube channel.
