ItΒ΄s absolutely necessary to include the clack clack anytime hardtack is mentioned. If not, Max will invade your kitchen and starts cooking garum

Ill always remember the time i ate only hardtack for the better part of a day, started thinking "hey this stuff really isnt so bad" then later i ate some watermelon and the amount of flavor nearly killed me. I can only imagine what its like for a sailor having his first piece of real food in months

American sailors who made fish stews and soups would often include some hard tack. They threw a few pucks in and let them basically dissolve into the stew and it would thicken the broth while giving it a white color. That’s where clam chowder comes from

We are truly blessed to have literal cities floating over oceans with the variety of food beyond our imagination.

I remember reading about sailors in the old days when I was in the Navy. Made me happy I served in the 1980's and not the 1880's! Chow on the USS Guam was better than I had at home, so I had zero complaints.

There is certain poetic irony in being surrounded by a massive body of water but only getting to eat the most driest thing.

In UK Sign Language, the gesture for "biscuit" is to tap a cupped hand twice on your elbow, which is thought to represent the action of breaking a hard ship's biscuit to check for weevils; essentially mimicking the act of breaking a hard biscuit into smaller pieces. I found this out when my son was at school with a deaf girl.

The "hard tack" ( CLACK CLACK ) is NECESSARY.
They said, a certain Max Miller smile everytime you clack a hard tack.
