Different traditions of yoga hold different belief of how and why to use yoga props.
I believe yoga props can offer support and add to the experience of a pose. So letâs celebrate the many, many uses of YOGA BLOCKS!
Here are some of my favorite poses to incorporate a yoga block

â¤ď¸Cat/Cat
â¤ď¸Half plan/half chaturanga
â¤ď¸Bridge
â¤ď¸Utkatasana
â¤ď¸Supported Squat
â¤ď¸Virasana
â¤ď¸Shoulder strengthening
â¤ď¸Standing poses
â¤ď¸Supporting your elbows in childâs pose
â¤ď¸Reverse Clamshell
â¤ď¸Standing on the block in The Dangle
Really the list could go on and on and you could get pretty creative with how you use the block.
In many of these poses, we use the block to help strengthen the adductors, inner thighs. This can help with pelvic floor balancing and pelvic alignment.
In other poses the block uses as an extension of your arm and can help lift the floor to use. This is incredibly useful when navigating around a pregnant belly!
We also use the block for support in poses like a squat, virasana or childâs pose.
