I think you oversell this study when you present its findings as the answer to an open-ended question. It's a single unreplicated study from a field that has a replication rate of about 30%.

Must depend on the severity. I'd assume it were minor consussions in the paper cited, as some parents are often overreacting. i had a misfortune of experiencing a brain trauma (as a young adult), and it definetely affected my iq. Roughly it was minus 20 in the weeks following, with a deficite of probably 10 or something at the moment of this comment, (T+3years). down from a base of ~130. Protect your damn head

I got ran over some years back. It was a Chevy tracker so you no the fall distance. But it hit me I went up on the hood slid up an over the glass an off the roof to land stright on my head. Woke up in the hospital on hand cuffs “apparently I gotten into a fight with the cops that showed up an they had to restrain me “ The moment I woke up I felt like a different person. Still to this day I have trouble remembering things that I kno for a fact I use to kno. I’m not mentally handicapped by far but I kno it messed with my brain pretty severely.
