I could totally see this story embellished and expanded upon and made into a movie or something. Might be interesting to see how they would convey the pitch black darkness to an audience while still showing what the characters are doing.

I was a guide for Kentucky's Salt Peter cave back in 1970-71.
The cave was mined for its eponymous salt peter during the war of 1812. Before that, entering the cave required one to crawl as the main passageways were only a couple feet high.

I’ve been in that cave with the electric lights turned off. I have exceptional night vision but when they say “dark” they mean zero photons!! I can understand her beating the crap out of him while he slept the next day!!!
