AWS SQS is a fully managed messaging queue for microservices, distributed systems, and serverless applications. Amazon SQS lets you send, store, and receive messages between software components at any volume, without losing messages.

AWS SQS follows FIFO (first in first out) processing & it makes sure that messages are published in the correct order. SQS is a reliable way to decouple & connect components or microservices using queues. SQS stores tasks or events in a single queue. Consumer of the queue pull the task and processes it.

AWS SQS can store messages at very high scale & also maintains the order of messages. Amason offers 2 types of queues.
1. Standard Queue -
a. Unlimited Throughput: Standard queues support unlimited number of transactions per second (TPS) per API action.
b. At-Least-Once Delivery: A message is delivered at least once.
c. Best-Effort Ordering: Mostly messages are delivered in order but there are exceptions in few cases.
2. FIFO Queue -
a. High Throughput: FIFO queues support up to 3,000 messages per second with batching & 300 messages per second without batching.
b. Exactly-Once Processing: A message is delivered exactly once.
c. First-In-First-Out Delivery: The order of messages is strictly preserved.
