I had this conversation about Pacific rim 2. There's one scene where they basically full auto a gun that's the size of a main battleship turret, and it sounds like a slightly bass boosted .22 cal.

In the movies defense, muzzle flash is a terrible indicator of round size. I have a snub nosed .357 revolver that makes huge fireballs when you shoot it, but the round is smaller than my pinky finger. That being said, those cannons look to be 25-30mm based on barrel diameter, and those rounds tend to turn people into puddles
