there was an interview parody on instagram where the applicant uses chatGPT and the interviewer tells him he wants him to do it not use a tool
and the applicant is like "if i tell you to make chicken biryani, and ask chatGPT for the recipe is it going to make it on it's own? you still need to do the work"

Thanks uncle Steph couldn’t agree more! I use chat gpt every day and many times it takes longer to feed it data and get a proper working response than just asking another more talented coder..I mainly use it as a glorified coding dictionary but would never trust it to just write code because it’s mostly wrong in some manner but still a great tool at this point

ChatGPT is dumb lol - it couldn't build a simple a widget with async requests. Only provides boilerplate

Unpopular opinion, but I think "clean up coding" jobs will increase, because in recent times companies hired unqualified folks and let them mess around the code base and it's slowing processes down and is getting more prone to failure. If you know your stuff this is good news, because of the clean up work in the future.

A true AI (we aren't there yet) that can code will also be able to teach, consult, manage, the list goes on. My argument when I hear that I'm obsolete soon.

artists and knowledge workers will be affected, just because chatGPT can speak computer programming, doesnt mean it can reason to make machines, it doesn't have the technology for reasoning. If its gets highly reasoning capabilites to become a software engineer, then all jobs will go before programmers, except maybe some Phd in math etc
