I would actually love to sit and have some beer/tea/coffee with this bloke Michael and see what his positions are in many of the topics he speaks about. 😀

These hot takes always almost exclusively apply the the white middle class experience in America. Gen-Z and Millenials are the first generation of white, middle class Americans that faced the actual negative impacts of capitalism that the rest of the country and world had been experiencing all along.

Gen X focused on local issues, largely, because they were the boogeyman scapegoat for the left/right. Funny how the grievances of Z about X activism are akin to those that boomers had about X activism, isn't it? But then I suppose if you're looking to virtue signal for being part of the trend for an impossibly large issue and would rather protest than volunteer in any meaningful way... because there's no glory, no iconic and remembered shots, in just changing out the bins (a necessary duty for many organizations but few people want to do it) or fighting for justice on the small scale, like when many cities and towns developed a fear of Gen X from the satanic panic years to post market crash gang crisis when our elders were competing with young adult and teens for college admissions and jobs, even taking up paper routes and fast food gigs. Also, where X earned the title of being slackers, for being unemployed, not in college/tech school and/or homeless. So, reality: you'll find most X politics were locally based, dealing with local brick and mortar organizations, our fundraising went the socialpreneur route with music and dance festivals (some which continued raising funds til recently, though the charitable part largely forgotten by the public when most support inter/national causes instead, but alas, many ending now because the costs & regulations have multiplied post-covid. like the black & blue) But hey, whatever.. let's also forget the radical shift in corporate culture and calls for accountability/responsibility, too. And chump the entire X experience to the historical archives known as John Hughes movies.

Yeah it's called the internet. Gen X came up with no internet and even in our 20s the internet was in its infancy.
