I saw a video where there was two dudes in one of those deep sea submersibles, and the front window was a big dome.
They were at a whale carcass, and one of these things came rolling up slowly. It had to be 20 feet long. It was a monster.
It bit on one of the subs arms for a second, then closed in and looked right into the dome from mere inches away.
It had blue eyes (of course we could only see one), and it's one eye was as big as a dinner plate.
The way it looked at those two dudes, who were no doubt questioning exactly how safe they were, cuz it was painfully obvious that this beast could easily tear their little Plexiglas and metal atmosphere holder to absolute shreds if it had the mind to, was just scary AF.
Gave me chills.
But it sauntered off, at that casual speed these guys seem to move at.
I had no idea that technically, these things get bigger than Great Whites. Six Gills are the true OG's of the Shark family.
Very, very impressive creatures. And they eat Giant Squid too. That makes two species of predators that munch on the scariest critters of the depths, but somehow Giant Squid manage to avoid detection by us humans despite the fact that numerically, there must be lots of them down there, and they must be successful at whatever it is that they get up to - mating, eating and being just as aggressive as the Humboldt Squid.
Just much, much bigger.
Sorry for rambling. I just dig this stuff so much. So glad we get cameras down there. I'd just like to know more about Giant Squid.
They're such primal nightmares...

I donβt remember where I saw it, but I remember seeing a clip of several of these guys challenging a submersible for a whale carcass as they thought it was there to eat, too! Very nerve-wracking for the people inside to get knocked around briefly before the sharks realized the sub wasnβt there to compete.
