Adaptations in the Deep Sea. NordVPN Christmas Deal! Go to nordvpn.com/naturalworldfacts to get a 2-year plan plus 1 additional month with a huge discount.

The deep sea is a world of challenges. Pressure increases rapidly. In the mesopelagic zone, the light of the sun becomes a faint glow, and at 1,000 metres down, the midnight zone is bathed in darkness. And yet, even in this bitter uninviting world of cold shadows, a myriad of peculiar creatures have made their homes, dramatically adapting their anatomy, behaviours and physiologies in order to cope with the challenge of living here. In this film, we’ll take a look at the unique ways in which these otherworldly creatures have adapted to thrive as masters of the deep dark sea.

Let’s take a moment to pay our respects to the creatures that had a bright light shined into their sensitive eyes

I do most of my scuba diving in Northern/Western Europe where the twilight zone basically starts at 6 meters and where you’re surrounded by darkness at 40 meters, and it’s amazing to see how similar the species you encounter here look to genuine deep sea inhabitants. I could watch this channel all day!

Ive been having the worst rapid anxiety attacks at night when the room is dark and the night is silent. My thoughts drown me into madness. But somehow - immersing myself with deep sea content calms me down. It's eerie yet calming. It helps me compartmentalize my messy thoughts for some reason.

The deep see videos are my favorites! The surprisingly vast amount of life that is able to survive and even thrive down there is amazing.

17:30 the fact that deep sea creatures can surface to higher parts of the ocean at night is at once terrifying and exciting. the music composition for this video is beautifully done too

Unfortunately we will have to say our final goodbye to Sir David Attenborough and many more natural historians broadcaster's over time. I'm glad there are people such as yourself to carry the torch of fascination and conservation.

Another great video. Using that 'Will He' cover was good- piano and base fit really well with the undersea clips.

Never knew I needed a joji piano cover in the background of a deep sea documentary, but if fit very well. Surprised I recognized it lol, I guess it's pretty distinct. Absolutely stunning as always.

I was listening to this with headphones and noticed a very subtle reverb on the voiceover. I don’t know if you’ve always done this or if it’s new to this video, but it definitely adds to the relaxing nature of your videos.

You've put a great deal of work into this, and it really shows. I find myself wondering about pelagic creatures because of your channel, and have shared this curiosity with others; I fell in love with the vampire squid and its adaptations, namely the eyes. Anywho, thank you for sharing your passion with others. It truly is a privilege to be able to watch these quality videos/films 😌

Something about the little orange fellow, motoring along at 18:11 made me smile. Some of these creatures are quite cute! Thanks for another wonderful video. I think yours are the only videos I've watched that don't play scary music and stupid action sound effects (even BBC does this) when showing deep sea creatures. I like how you take what others show as being nightmare fuel, and make us feel for these animals and their resilience with your gentle narration and music.
