They were known as Ted, Ed, and Fred for the 1988 RadioShack "concert" where they lip synced over pre-recorded songs with live drums. Ironically one of the songs they played was soon to be Bleach track Paper Cuts which includes the word "Nirvana" several times.

When Kurt & Krist were in high school, Kurt had wanted to meet him the moment he saw them. He instantly liked him- which I find pretty cool. So when he made his first band (without Krist) it was with Greg Hokanson & Dale Crover, and they made the one and only demo tape left of Fecal Matter. Kurt left it around the Melvin’s place (where Krist hung out too) & left a copy around for him and even gave one to him. It took Krist ages to actually listen to it, but when he did, he wanted to start a band with Kurt. The two were content with being a CCR cover band, but for some reason they changed their mind, and I’m glad they did because they’re my favorite band :)
