CLAUDE: One key feminist perspective is how Victor Frankenstein, in his attempt to create life, usurps the biological reproductive role of women. This can be seen as a critique of how patriarchal society marginalizes women and seeks to control female sexuality and reproduction. Victor's rejection of his creature also has feminist implications. He abandons his creation, failing to nurture it. This failure of masculine responsibility stands in contrast to ideals of feminine nurturing and maternal duty. Victor's actions lead to tragedy, suggesting the folly of male-dominated society shirking its obligations. The limited roles and agency granted to female characters also reflect the constrained position of women at the time. Victor's mother Caroline dies early, Elizabeth is objectified as Victor's possession, and Justine is framed and executed, showing their vulnerability. Women are depicted as passive, without autonomy.
