I don’t think you understand what he’s talking about because she didn’t force him to go, it was actually quite the opposite. He went to a recruiter at the age of 17 and to join at 17 you need your parents permission. His mother didn’t want him to go that’s why she whipped him and was crying. Eventually she signed it and he was able to go.

She whipped him because she DIDN'T want him to go... But she finally gave in and signed for him to be able to go, because she understood that it was what was needed for him to be able to feel like (within himself) that he was becoming an honorable man, carrying his weight in this world, and doing HIS part for his fellow countrymen!

And so... A BIG "THANK YOU" to you sir, AND to your mother,, for your years of service and self sacrifice for your country (and the sake of it's freedom)!!🇺🇸

I sure do love when people cut people's words off to make them tell the opposite story that they wanted to tell

My mother punished me the same way and her reaction was the same and I realized that I was a turd to break her heart that way and I never, NEVER broke her heart again. I'm 74 yrs old. I was also a Marine served 27 yrs. Semper Fidelis, Semper PARATUS.

Most people are in fear of loosing something they hold dear.the mother loved her son and naturally was afraid to loose what she held dear.
She raised a very brave fellow.

What a disgrace, twisting a man's word to fit a narrative and the disrespect toward a loving mom

She was crying because it was his wish to go into
the Marines and it broke her heart, he realized that he broke her heart and that's why he cried. Growing up is tough but it's even tougher on a mom. I never realized what my mom went through when I asked my parents to sign for me go into the Marines at 17.

I have made several circles during discipline my self and RUNNING in place. Made me a better person. So glad my parents disciplined me.

My mom wouldn't speak to me after she signed my paperwork, my dad had already signed it. She saw what my dad went through in Nam and didn't want that for me. She got over it.

Was the best thing a mom could do for her son at the time.
