People who need glasses have more of a lens issue and less of a retina issue. The retina is still in the same place and works the same as with normal vision, but the lens on the front of the eyeball is either squished, skewed or overall just has the wrong geometry to hit the mark on the retina.

IT IS NOT a retina issue.
The Retina converts light entering the eye into visible images. Just to be clear it's a problem about cornea or lens (or both)
1) Cornea:
-The cornea, located at the front of the eye, is not a lens but rather a transparent tissue.
-It refracts light entering the eye to focus it on the retina
2) Lens:
-The lens is indeed a biconvex structure located behind the cornea.
-Thanks to its ability to change shape (accommodation), the lens fine-tunes focus.
-When we look at close objects, the lens flattens; when we look at distant objects, it thickens.

As a glasses wearer, I want to say the problem is more with the lens than the retinas. Some people don't have as good of eyesight as others due to a major issue with the lenses from them being in the wrong position, getting damaged or not being able to capture enough light to process the exact details of the image. so they need an extra set, hence the name of the glass on the front, lenses.

Itās not a retina issue though. Your prescription is due to refractive error, as a result of having an eye shape that is not perfectly āroundedā this difference in eye shapes is why almost everyone has different prescription. Because the index is going to change as your body gets older and with bad habits, nothing to do with the retina part of your eye. But good job acting like a medical professional, really would appreciate if you would correct this at least. Iām an eye tech and this hurt my brain listening
