Some might say that the right time to work out is RIGHT NOW, because you must start sometime, somewhere. And while we completely understand the sentiment behind the thought, we must clarify that there is, indeed, a RIGHT TIME TO WORKOUT! ⁠

According to Ayurveda, the early hours of 6 a.m.-10 a.m., also referred to as the “Kapha Time” is most suitable for exercise and meditation. During this period, the energy is stable, grounding and strong so light physical activity helps rejuvenate the mind and body. ⁠

Note: Those suffering from aggravated Vata or Pitta imbalances should avoid rigorous exercises and should stick to this time of the day for some light exercises. Kapha dominant individuals can indulge in more rigorous workouts, while still only using 50% of your capacity. ⁠

This means that one should only work out till there is sweat on the forehead, thighs, and till breathing becomes rigorous. This Ayurvedic principle focusses on using half your capacity and conserving the other half. This capacity depends on individual energy fluctuations, season, age, and body type. Exercising beyond one's capacity can create imbalance in mind and body, cause difficulty in breathing, lack of muscle strength, severe fatigue and sluggishness, excessive sleepiness and ache in the body. ⁠
