You’ll often see those involved in feminist movements totally disregard the socioeconomic factors that take away from the privilege of being a man. Being a minority, LGBTQ+, disabled, neurodivergent, etc all can drastically affect a man’s social status, very often worse than a woman’s. People are slowly waking up the modern crisis that men face.

I’ve seen the same data being used to correlate the disparity with black culture and not discrimination. And although that argument sounded much better than this one, I think there is more detail that needs to be looked at instead of just making such a broad attribution without a more rigorous and granular scrutiny.

It's ridiculous that people make comments and give an opinion as though they've studied the data and done the research over a few years, but in reality, they've spent next to zero time finding out about anything. Don't any of you who disagree with this realise that it's this guys job? You spout an opinion and think I'm right, the academic is wrong. It's amazing how unaware people are.

Could it be because they are less likely to ask for raises when they are constantly told they are oppressed? I'm not sure if the difference in growth proves discrimination. The pay gap between white men and women has been shown to be more about many women choosing motherhood over careers or working fewer hours to help run the household when it was previously believed it was sexism. Obviously racism and sexism do happen in the workplace, but I'm not sure they are the driving force behind pay differences. It seems like there is not enough information to draw that conclusion.

Is it really helpful to compare an average like this with everyone else?
If every job pays the people asked for this survey the same for any other person also holding that job, then the difference in "average pay" (as presented in this video) might be the;specific jobs held; not anyone being paid differently when working in that particular job. i.e. "all the employees working in a particular job are paid the same pay scale, but if someone isn't doing the same job/work they might be paid less...
What I mean is: I found a "gender pay gap" table that included careers in the US Military as having a gender pay gap.
And that is absolutely crazy! Not because it "SHOULDN'T happen" but still does anyway.
Instead, it's "crazy" because it's literally IMPOSSIBLE for that to happen.
The pay scale doesn't incorporate gender and it's based only on rank and time in service.
And promotion isn't based on gender either.
But women may often take time to have children, which can nean they aren't taking the sane developmental assignments that would make them more competitive.
But how is it sexist or discriminatory for women to fall behind - on average - if they aren't doing the same work?
Sounds like theyre demanding "extra pay for unequal work."

Total bs. EG I drove a cab for the RR. I would shuttle engineers to terminals and often these terminals with dozens and dozens of RR workers were all african. Also I was a truck driver and while in DC I'd fund license plates from stolen cars on the ground and hand them over to a law enforcement agent who was african as was everyone in the precinct. When I was in the Army it was easily 50% african when I 1st enlisted now it's even more african. Js

Maybe we should not jump to the most facile conclusion that discrimination is the culprit behind the disparities between African American men and everyone else. Could it be that there is something endemic in the culture of African American men that is antithetical to their flourishing? Anti-intellectualism, promiscuity, and overall antisocial behavior is far more pervasive in this cohort than in others, and these damaging ideas are glorified. That could be a big contributing factor.

The whole x cents to the dollar thing needs to be clarified that that's not for the same job. It's, on average, having higher paying professions
