The problem with knowing the difference between good and evil is that now you KNOW BETTER...

You aren't capable of being evil if you dont understand what you are doing. You can cause harm, but you aren't evil, because you aren't responsible.

This is also how the insanity plea works in the justice system. If you cannot understand the consequences of your actions, you cannot be legally held responsible for them.

Crowley's question of whether he accidentally did the right thing is also a very interesting question. In the Bible, the Snake tricks Adam and Eve into eating the fruit, and they sin, learning good and evil, and become separated from God. The Bible never says that this was God's plan all along, but if God is omniscient, then He must have know that this would happen, and allowed the Serpent (the devil, or in this show Crowley) to tempt Adam and Eve.

The rest of the Bible deals with the fallout of that event, of God dealing with the sin of mankind, and eventually sending his son, Jesus, to redeem the world for all of their sin, thereby undoing the mistake of the Garden, and allowing humanity to once again commune with God. The difference now is, those sinful humans understand good and evil, and can fully appreciate the difference, and are free to choose to be good, rather than evil.

So did God allow the Serpent to cause humanity to fall, in order to ultimately have a deeper connection to his creation? Meaning that the Devil was actually playing right into God's hands the entire time?
