The hard thing is to find those meaningful relationships ;)

I’m sort of in the opposite boat. I relied so heavily on my interpersonal relationships my entire life, and that had caused a lot of pain when they didn’t pull through for me and my grief was too much. Now I’m trying to find my place in this world and rely on myself.

Very consciously making my life harder has made me much happier, and yes, we need people. Admitting that to myself was a big deal. Doing the work to meet people and foster relationships has been an even bigger deal. And a rewarding one.

As an Autistic person, the worst times of my life were trying to form "friendships", nevermind relationships, it always resulted in Hurt, or Pity.

What about when people just don’t like you? When you’re not cool enough or interesting enough… it’s hard to find your tribe these days. It’s a vicious world out there and people these days seem only want to use and dispose of you when they get what they want.

As an introvert who has made very few good friends, this is especially tough. Getting rid of relationships with toxic people is the flip side of this coin.

The most precious thing we miss from village is how easy it was to have a cup of tea with neibours

Pursuit of happiness is a myth. We have to flip the switch because we are not recipients of happiness. We are the source of it. It's within. Means, you can only give happiness. Once you try that, you'll never go looking for happiness

Start in gratitude. That changes EVERYTHING.❤

Thanks for sharing. This is very true, something about western culture encourages this, people from eastern cultures are much more group oriented but develop similar problems if adopting western habits.

Yep. No one lived “independently” throughout all of human history. We have always lived in tribes and communities.

That´s a commodity way of life: I am not dependable, I am autonomous, etc . I am a nice product!

I thought it was going to be something about lowering expectations. I have definitely not ignored this for decades, but one thing the video leaves out is that this takes other people to do their part. Not a good way to reach a goal of happiness if it relies a bunch on other humans being decent

Thats basically like saying just be rich or dont be nervous. Good relationships dont just grow on trees and wait for you to pick them.

I have met hundreds of guys with your past attitude. Always tried to form long term and deep friendships, they just moved on, didn't appreciate it, they didn't prioritize it, didn't care. Monk mode is working better from day to day for me now. So peaceful, so insightful. Nothing to loose, pure living life. A lot of people use friendships nowadays in order to deal with their inner deamons. That's OK, but not my way. I'm still open for a good friendship but also I have no hesitation dropping someone who isn't ready for it. And most people are not ready. Pick wisely.

This explains why i feel so bad, i have no friends or relationship with other people

I resonate with this. I have been very independent since I was young, and being an Enneagram 6, I've always feared putting my security in others, so much so that I only ever trust and rely on myself to do anything. Independence is good, but we are, first and foremost, a part of a whole — a community. I need others, too.

Living by myself caused me depression. Humans aren’t supposed to be alone, we need people to share our lives with.

Bullcrap, once those relationships end, you'll go back depressed even worse than before. You've only yourself to relay on, everyone else is a bonus.
