It gets particles out. Not the bacteria. Why you boil it

That is a cartridge filter, I could remove all the dirt and particles from the water even at that rate of flow, it's lucky the video is short, and it was probably primed with clean water, they tend to plug really fast that thing would only work for a minute or two before it became completely plugged, and like everyone else mentioned you would still have to boil that water to kill anything living in it

With water like that a filter would plug in seconds.

"That thing" is the drain valve used for flushing the filter

Im a plumber and install these typse of filters on homes. 1 it's primed. 2 yes it's filtered but the filter gets particulate out not bacteria so it needs to be boiled. 3 filters aren't magic, it's likely carbon filter with the part at the base for flushing

I didn't think we'd be "debunking the existence of water filters" today, but here we are.

Cleans out dirt but not pathogens or bacteria. You need to boil it after.

Bs!? It's a real filter. He doesn't drink it because he knows it needs to be boiled first.

Well you still have to boil it

You can have non clear water that is safe to drink and clear water that isn’t safe to drink, the goal here is to make the water clear, and it works, where did they claimed it was safe to consume without boiling it?

They don’t drink it because it’s not yet treated or heated.

Filters remove debris, not microscopic organisms.

Look at the pressure gauge on the metal cylinder. It had pressure before he connected the hose. I call BS.

Your first question is a drain: so you don't have water in the vessel when not in use... Second question is, it's a particle filter, it doesn't filter microbes: this filtered water would still need boiled to consume safely. Hope that helps clear things up (see what I did there? It's a pun about the filter clearing the water up)

RO filters remove sediment only. Clears it up but still tons of potential for bacteria and minerals. DI filter would get rid of remaining minerals, not sure how you'd take care of bacteria/amoebas/etc

The water comes out clean. It doesn't come out sterile. Boiling it, it sterelizes it and makes it safe to drink, and cleaning it makes it taste better. It's about quality of life.

The cylinder is called a filter housing , the housing is fixed to the ground. Then a number of filters can be used within the housing cylinder.

The water source is river water. Considering the area, the style of filter is probably a simple mineral filter. The water can be either boiled and consumed warm, or chilled after boil and consumed.

I boiling the water one can avoid such things as sepsis, gout, or any number of bacterial and or viral contaminants.

The protrusion on the bottom is known as a spout traditionally good for connecting hoses to extend the functionality and adaptability of the filter housing.

Looks like a Back flush valve for cleaning filter.
