They apply modern labels too all of history. This is really “how the Irish became white”, Most people claim irishness because there grandparents or parents wanted to feel oppressed now they mix the idea that “there irish” and that they are white and mix them and try too apply it too real Irish Americans, Irish Canadians, Irish nationals, and irish aussies.

Should skin colour be allowed to be an indicator of anything today? Historically, skin tone was used by many who sought privilege to discriminate against the poor, the different. Field labourers in the Mediterranean were socially discriminated against, as were industrial, farm and physical labourers throughout Europe. Whether the effects of enduring sun exposure or pejorative terms such as "the Great Unwashed" come into it, skin tone "tropes" were used in many cultures (possibly most often in India and Japan) to label social classes or indiginous peoples as "inferior".
Skin colour, a person's height, ear or nose size - in fact no "perceived" attribute should ever be indulged in. Unfortunately the metaphoric links of such distinctions are well embedded in our concepts of history and humanity.

I'm a white guy I have not been afforded privilege growing up and then starting a very young family. I only gained privilege at a later time in my life when i was saved by Jesus .
