Comp grip shortens your range of motion, it’s mostly good to l use because it’s allowed. I’m not really a fan of it because it has small carry over to other presses.

To work on structural balance and strength potential I much prefer : and often I find seasoned powerlifters have a huge deficit when it comes to close grip or increased ROM pressing.

My preference is use a multitude of pressing angles and implements. Lots of focus on heavy tricep extensions to build a big bench, whether you decide to go wide or not.
