I'm an Asian American doing my PhD in Germany right now, and I'm hoping to put out content describing my experiences after I finish. Plus it'll be a good stepping stone for me to start putting my lectures up as a professor.
Though I am considering recording my busking sessions for the fun of it as well.

I remember thinking the market was over saturated in 2016/2017 and now Iโve seen so many channels in the tens of millions of subs from as little as 3 or so years ago. YouTube, Twitch, there are a surprising amount of newcomers every year that get exposed to people itโs all about being different by any means, genuine, and getting seen. (Not just clout chasing but interesting content)

I don't know. Seems like with the algorhytm being what it is, it's next to impossible for a new channel to get noticed in order to get new viewers. The big channels don't want the competition. It's like saying you can become a professional athelete, technically possible but so unlikely and so many people fail, it's better not to try and instead have fun.

One thing tho, Youtube has a significantly larger non-English speaking consumer base. So I guess only applies to non-English speaking users(that also speak english). If you orient your content towards that language, and by extension, culture, you'll have a bigger chance of making it, as it is not as saturated as the English market.

yes its absolutely possible. id say the trick is to go in not expecting to make money. Dont have an all or nothing attitude, just do it as a side gig and after a couple years if you dont seem to have grown as much evaluate and see if its something you want to continue or not. I know a VTuber that started and within a couple months had a huge following on youtube, she made excellent shorts and thats how a lot of people found her.

I love the balance you struck between realism and encouragement.
