Me, trying to replicate this in Rome 2 TW but the AI always breaks it's formation and turns the battle in a giant Hollywood style mess

The more i learn about Alexander, the more i appreciate Philip II his father.
He tought him everything about warfare, without his military reforms, Alexander wouldnt have been Great

If you're wondering how Alexander became such a military genius
His father Phillip II was an amazing general and Alexander was taught personally by the legendary philosopher Aristotle. Two geniuses molding a future king.

If only you could slowly retreat without turning your unit around in a Total War game

Nothing is more exhilarating than successfully pulling off a hammer and anvil maneuver in total war games.

Just gotta pray your cavalry doesnā€™t get stuck on something

This is exactly the main thing that caused Alexander to be such an amazing general, his sense of timing was utterly unmatched

It's amazing how effective blue envelopes were in ancient combat.

Imagine the amount of courage and adrenaline his warriors mustā€™ve felt, when they saw Alexander executing his part in the plan. They mustā€™ve been hyped when they pushed back. šŸ”„

A man becoming the King & setting out on an incredible adventure across countries, continents, rivers, seas, jungles, deserts, mountains, plateaus, fighting & winning battle after battle, creating one of the largest ever empires, all this while he's in his 20's, something which was never replicated & can never be replicated.

He did the exact same move at the Battle of Issus, against Dariius of Persia -- pull the enemy line apart by feinting, then striking with cavalry, peltasts, and light infantry for the Persian general staff.

Exact sane move, exact same outcome.

The bravery to do this at such a young age is truly incredible. The amount of calmness to properly address the situation and take advantage of the opportunity.
