For me, a lot of the media that is shoved in our faces on a constant basis is weak, fake, plastically "beautiful" and tamed down.
I watch true crime documentaries I think to get closer to reality and the brutality of real life.
I think I like being reminded that I can't trust everyone, and that life could be gone in a matter of seconds. And I think it reminds me to be grateful for what I currently have too from the sheer strength of realness. Even if dramatised a bit.

I'm 64 now but my group of friends and myself consider ourselves more than extremely lucky to still be breathing. But we had a lot of fun. No it's my turn to sit back and watch everybody else do it, but I don't know how some of these people can't go in the woods at night, the difference is we could see what was coming, I have a vivid imagination and there's too many things I could think of that would be creeping up behind me in the woods at night đťđŚNah đ

Humans love the macabre for several reasons , joy is one of them , catharsis is another , it can give you relief , watching some traumatic believe it or not can relieve or help you process your own trauma , sometimes it is artistic and just an expression of human thoughts and emotion , which also ties in to it being a form of psychological exploration, have any of you ever thought something that if said out loud you might get arrested to sectioned to an asylum ? Yeah turns out basically those thoughts are perfectly normal and in fact it is HEALTHY to have those thoughts , because if you think for example "what would it feel like to hurt this animal " , just having that thought will reveal your reaction to such an act , so if you ever think to yourself "what If I hurt this animal " and it makes you cringe or feel sad or whatever , that's good because you are learning about yourself , you know that you have an negative reaction to a bad behavior, that shows you have a healthy mind, YOU CANNOT CONTROL YOUR THOUGHTS, having dark thoughts or even thoughts you would consider sickening do not make you a bad person or mentally ill , it means you are able to test your limits and you know your limitations because your brain sets them for you , but you can control your actions , and it your obligation as a human to not impulsively act out your thoughts , what makes a bad person isnt terrible thoughts , it's acting out the terrible thoughts

People tend to be disgusted but also enticed by others behaving in ways that completely oppose their own or societal values. I think it triggers the dark and dormant âshadowâ side we all have while also triggering our empathetic side towards the victims. Itâs an emotional rollercoaster.
