Would love to have a review of the bed (maybe 6 months-8 months later) to see your opinion regarding using that bed on daily basis.

It looks really comfy, not gonna lie, but the gap in the middle and the shelves unit looks pain to clean up and the gap between the frame and the bed feels quite uncomfortable when you wake up in the dark and hurrying to go for a pee.

The bed itself looks comfy but i stayed at a place with a similar "border" around the bed and it was pretty annoying to have to constantly beware of the sides before getting into bed if i didnt want to smack my legs into it. Even sliding off the bed was a bit inconvenient. I feel like with time, maybe id get used to it, but i definitely wouldnt purposefully put myself through that πŸ˜… This is of course not made for me im just sharing my experience in case anyone who is a bit clumsy like me sees my comment and maybe avoids some bruises πŸ˜‚
Another thing is i always feel like these beds look so "clutter heavy" on the bottom and no matter how much you put on the walls, i can never get over how 'empty' it looks in contrast. Again, just my opinion. The shelves themselves look amazing!

I like it, but curious, is it inconvenient getting in and out of?

I liked the idea of a platform bed until the frame rakes the back of your knees getting up. Good diy upgrade though.

Seems like lost potential for storage under the bed, especially with the raised frame. It would probably be better if the platform wasn't so much wider than the bed. Doesn't feel inviting to go to bed, more like a hindrance.

If these are custom shelves, why build two Ls with a gap when you could size the middle perfectly by attaching both sides with 45 degree cuts? Painful

nice job! why the decision to leave the gap at the foot?

Wow this is not practical at all. Looks so uncomfortable getting in and out of bed. And the the sharp sides don't look fun.

I do not think you’re using that word right.

What you HAD was a platform bed. By elevating it this way you no longer do.

A platform bed has two defining characteristics:
1. A sturdy flat foundation that doesn’t require a box spring or bunny board.
2. A low profile 5in-12in

Cool, I'd stain it darker and use wood to fill in the gap. Maybe cut down the shelf to fit the height of the orginal bed. The height proportion is throwing me off
