Big heckin' nope from me. I hate the weird pseudo-health garbage happening in North America and hate people are looking to turn a profit from it. It's gonna hurt a lot of people and families.

Breast milk as a superfood... God, soon enough they'll start claiming blood plasma is some kind of fountain of youth and drink that too.

Just wait for Nestle to get in on this.

I think keeping milk, blood, and organ donation in the non-profit sector is safer for everyone. The profit motive so easily becomes a motive for exploitation.

When capitalism meets poverty, exploitation is inevitable. That hits hard

this is literally part of the worldbuilding in Mad Max Fury Road, and to repeat the words that imo lie at the heart of the movie: WE ARE NOT THINGS.

That network of charities also used to exist in the States too. I used to give my excess milk to these milk banks for premies. But sales of it?? No, no, no! The crazy ass alternative health folks have been babbling about human milk being a cure all for a long time, but been unable to obtain much of it until recently.

I miss the days of the goji, acai and coconut fads. Back then it was just fruits and vegetables man.

I wish you could hear my anguished cry. This should be illegal everywhere for the simple fact that impoverished women will be exploited, their babies will suffer and, on occasion, die.

Here in denmark the hospital buys it, and even comes to collect it. It's a great system and then the premature babies can have some milk (and for some reason also cancer patients it seems). Plus we didn't have to pump and dump or wake up in a bed soaked with milk.

Every time a living body is turned into money, evil is the only result. Period. And yes, I mean EVERY SINGLE TIME.

I mean, we do it to cows, maybe even more we should bottle it for the weaned adult cows so they can have it with their oats!

Thanks for using your reach for this. It’s high time we switched to high protein shrimp milk.

You've reminded me of when a lady journalist was interviewing an impoverished nursing mother in Africa, whose milk was drying up as she was malnourished herself. The lady journalist happened to be lactating herself, she picked up the poor lady's baby and put him to her own breast. Such a beautiful, loving thing to do - the poor lady didn't have to worry about her baby going hungry, and she wasn't having to deplete her own bodily resources (which were practically exhausted).

just to correct a small mistake you made: it's not "when capitalism meets poverty exploitation is inevitable. " It's: "when capitalism - exploitation is inevitable!"
