Agreed. All of that can improve and prepare the body for boxing, but all martial arts shine when you learn the techniques and forms behind them.

Take it from the biggest guy in the gym: Just because you're strong, does not mean you are good at martial arts or boxing, or fighting.
It helps, but only helps in not losing, winning is an entirely different story

I thought simply watching all the Rocky movies would make me a better boxer.

It depends on how athletic you are. I am a huge fan of off-season, letting the body heal and letting your brain refresh while getting more athletic, and having a bigger base when you train your main sport again.

I feel like after 4-6 years of 3 times a week for 3-4 hrs will train your reaction time well enough after learning the moves it's just a matter of making sure the body can follow through on the movement and coordination you've built

Getting a better set of tools is great, but it doesn't really matter if you never learned how to use the original set in the first place.

In reddit when searching for a good conditioning plan I saw a quote "cardio, strenght and conditioning are a supplement to your martial art, not the substitute. Train to fight"

All those things are still needed. You need to condition your body better so that your body is able to take the stress from punching.
