Never had the problem. My hunting dog was trained from the first month to be alone sometimes, starting with very short preiods of 5min up to 10hrs. He has a command that indicates to him a "job": to stay where he is and wait quietly. So he regards it as work and thus is fine with that. I take him on business trips all the time when he has to wait 8n the hotel room sometimes for 6-8hrs. He manages perf3ctly and is super quiet. Because in the end it is exactly the same as if I tell him to lie down in the forest and wait until I call him. And even less distractions. The problem is more that people leave dogs without a "task" and then they are restless. Or treat them like children.
And this although on normal days he is 90% of the time right next to me and gets exercise 4x a day. π€·ββοΈπ«£
As long as we do not treat dogs as humans but as dogs, they are happy.
